TCE Caledonia at St. Nicholas of Bari is a part of the many summer camps that TCE (The Child Experience) runs across Toronto as a non-profit organization. TCE is dedicated to providing kids with unforgettable summer experiences that are both memorable and enjoyable. Throughout six weeks, kids at the camps are engaged, mentored, and accompanied by high school students who ensure a great summer experience. Each day is filled with exciting activities such as sports, arts and crafts, and drama, where kids can learn, grow, and create new connections. Ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for all children is essential for the enjoyment TCE provides in all their camps!
TCE Caledonia’s daily engaging activities, including sports, drama, and the arts, along with a group activity at the end of the day, all share the same goal: to create a fun and engaging community for the campers. To ensure that campers can try a variety of activities and find their personal favorites, TCE promotes a wide selection of activities in their camps. TCE makes sure that summer camp is about learning, developing, and discovering oneself in addition to having fun and creating memories.
Our visit was quite the thrill as TCE Caledonia invited us to join them on their trip to the CNE’s Farm! Some of the activities the campers enjoyed included playing “The Floor Is Lava” in hay forts, getting creative with colouring pages, solving animal puzzles, experiencing a virtual farm through VR, playing games, and filling out bingo cards. The farm offered a variety of activities that all campers liked. When Alex the Beaver performed, the campers’ enthusiasm grew! They had a great time dancing and singing together. All in all, the day was filled with cheerful smiles as campers explored the farm and enjoyed the sunny summer day!
The goal of the FOY staff at TCE Caledonia is to ensure that every camper has a fun and safe time. The FOY team emphasizes interacting with campers during free time, listening to them, and developing relationships of trust in order to make sure every day is enjoyable.
