Live For Ball (LFB) is a summer camp that runs for five weeks during the months of July and August. In its second year as a summer camp, it strives to enhance team-building and respect for one another through the sport of basketball and leadership activities. LFB provides a fun, safe, and positive environment to keep the youth active and make the most out of their summer.
Operating on weekdays from 9AM to 4PM, all participants of LFB do warm-ups and physical activities in the morning, mainly covering the fundamentals of basketball. In the afternoon, the younger part of the group goes out on trips, while the more experienced of the group stay inside for more intensive basketball training.
LFB is more than just a basketball camp. It also runs a variety of leadership games and activities that promote teamwork, respect, good sportsmanship, and moral lessons that give its participants a foundation for good character. Because of this, the LFB team at Blessed Cardinal Newman High School has truly evolved into a closely-knit family.
LFB’s partnership with Focus On Youth not only benefits the organization itself, but teenagers as well. In an interview with Focus On Youth staff, Marlene Solano says that her favourite part about her job is the motivation she gets from her coaches. Through Focus On Youth, Live For Ball becomes more accessible to teens across the city.
