PROFILE: Focus on Youth Media Team 2024

The Focus on Youth (FOY) Media Team works behind the scenes to maintain FOY’s official accounts, such as the Instagram, TikTok, and this website! Consisting of 13 high school staff and two university coordinators, the Media Team did an incredible job of ensuring everyone gets a glimpse of everything FOY had to offer in 2024, whether it be through Instagram posts, TikToks/Reels, or blog posts! With the main goal of getting coverage and documenting all things FOY, the Media Team always goes above and beyond, taking every opportunity to showcase their creativity and dedication.

Every Monday at 9 AM, the Media Team would meet at the Catholic Education Centre for weekly meetings. The team would start their mornings with a different team bonding activity or game every week, such as Fruit Salad, Jackbox games, Kahoot, Line-up, Charades, and “How well do you know your team?” with gift cards as prizes! Later, they would receive peer feedback and reconnect with their groups before the busy week they had planned. The team gathered for a delicious pizza lunch during their final meeting. To wrap things up, they had fun making a candy salad bowl together!

This year, the Media Team was split into five groups, each with their own share of placements to visit and create content for. Spending so much time together led to lots of friendships and effective teamwork among all group members! Everyone had several opportunities to visit different external camps and placements from all around Toronto and the Greater Toronto Area, resulting in lots of correspondence, travel, and a variety of unique memories that the Media Team not only captured for others but also made amongst themselves.

Your hard work and tireless efforts give all FOY staff a chance to look back at their precious memories and allow FOY to be discovered in every corner of the world.
