PROFILE: Toronto Community Housing (Islington St. Andrews)

Toronto Community Housing (TCH) is the largest social housing provider in Canada. Amongst their various youth programs, TCH hosts the Rookie League program, a summer long baseball day-camp program for children ages 6 to 12. The Rookie League program aims to help build strong communities by supporting child development and encouraging teamwork, leadership and fair play on and off the field.

This year, the Rookie League in-person camps are running in 15 TCHC communities, with Islington St. Andrews being one of them! At TCH Islington St. Andrews, these campers always have tons of fun outside playing various sports, engaging in team-building activities with their amazing counsellors and peers, and overall learning new skills. By enjoying days of splashing around and cooling off at the pool, each camp day is an adventure filled with excitement and laughter!

Aside from playing at the pool, the campers are also given a wide variety of activities to choose from, including playing at the playground, creating cheers, and playing soccer. It’s a fantastic opportunity for kids to stay active, make new friends, and create long lasting memories!
