PROFILE: St. Bernadette’s Family Resource Centre – D’arcy McGee

St. Bernadette’s Family Resource Centre is a community-oriented, non-profit organization that operates without religious affiliation, providing camps for children aged 4 to 12. The center is dedicated to including children, youth, and adults who face physical and developmental challenges, including autism, Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, and blindness since 1992.

St. Bernadette provides a carefully monitored setting that fosters both educational and recreational pursuits. The daily schedule includes activities such as arts and crafts, physical exercises, and additional engaging options. The staff from the Family Resource Center and Focus on Youth collaborate seamlessly to guarantee that the children not only have an enjoyable experience but also enhance their learning.

According to the coordinator in a recent interview, this organization is highly inclusive. The primary objective is to establish a welcoming environment where everyone is encouraged to participate and will be treated as equals. Each staff that has dedicated their time to this cause has a passion for working with children, particularly because they are in a low-income and high-risk location. They believe that giving back to the community through this type of assistance is truly meaningful.
