The Malvern Family Resource Centre (MFRC) is a dedicated community hub for the citizens of the Scarborough, and specifically Malvern, area. With a variety of programs and initiatives aimed at supporting their community, the MFRC elevates the voices of Malvern and Scarborough community members. The centre focuses greatly on its impact on youth and children, taking pride in bringing kids together with a focus on those in need the most. The committed Focus on Youth staff who work there daily ensure that each child is able to receive the best experience possible in a camp setting, leading them in games, activities, and trips when necessary to stimulate a positive environment.

For the younger age group of kids, a typical start begins with them having free time to play with toys, interact with each other, and create new friendships. FOY staff encourage kids to meet new people and form friendly bonds. Some kids play with beaded toys, building blocks, and abacuses, while some read and make paper airplanes, yet all kids are encouraged to be creative.

Outside, the older age group spend time at the nearest park, Littles Road Park, running around on the playground and open field. FOY staff play with kids and desire that they feel a sense of freedom in an open environment. While some kids like playing on the swings, slides, monkey bars, or boardwalk, some kids prefer to relax under the shade and play hand-clapping games. Regardless of how you’re feeling that day, the MFRC ensures that all children can benefit from outside play.

FOY camp counsellors constantly support the kids and uphold the values of the MFRC, prioritizing the growth and well-being of the campers who put their trust in the community.
