PROFILE: TCE – Earl Beatty Junior and Senior Public School

TCE Woodbine at Earl Beatty Junior and Senior Public School is a part of the many summer camps that TCE (The Child Experience) runs across Toronto as a non-profit organization. TCE is dedicated to providing kids with unforgettable summer experiences that are both memorable and enjoyable. Throughout six weeks, kids at the camps are engaged, mentored, and accompanied by high school students who ensure a great summer experience. Each day is filled with exciting activities such as sports, arts and crafts, and drama, where kids can learn, grow, and create new connections. Ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for all children is essential for the enjoyment TCE provides in all their camps!

A typical day at TCE Woodbine involves their usual engaging activities of sports, drama, and arts, with a group activity at the end of the day. The staff strive to create a welcoming, fun, and connected community at the camp. As mentioned by camp counsellors, at least twice a week, they will engage in water fights, where campers and camp counsellors create exciting memories while keeping cool in the hot sunny weather. This is the camp counsellor’s favourite activity. TCE encourages a diverse range of activities at their camps, ensuring campers can enjoy different activities and determine what they enjoy the most. TCE ensures summer camp is not only about good times and memories, but also about learning, growing, and finding oneself.

Our recent visit was quite exciting, as TCE Woodbine invited us on a trip to CNE’s Farm Adventure. The farm showcased various activities enjoyed by all campers, from exploring hay forts, puzzling and painting animals, to VR farm experiences, games, and bingo cards. The campers’ excitement increased when Alex the Beaver put on a show! Together they danced, sang, and had an amazing time. After visiting the farm, campers had lunch, followed by free time at the park before heading back to camp. Overall, the day was full of bright smiles as campers found themselves around the farm and enjoyed such a special sunny day!

The FOY staff at TCE Woodbine is dedicated to providing a safe and enjoyable experience for all campers. Ensuring every day is a fun day by engaging with campers during free time, listening to any concerns, and building strong relationships is a top priority for the FOY staff. In our video recap, you can see the dedication and admiration of our FOY staff as they collaborate with other camp counsellors to create a positive summer camp environment!
