The Central Leadership Team, also known as Team Central, is a high-energy, leadership-oriented group comprising Focus on Youth’s strongest leaders. This year, stationed at all three of our Footsteps camps, Central took centre stage at each of our Footsteps to Success camps, boosting our campers’ energy through opening ceremonies, Central Takeovers, and assisting their fellow counsellors daily. Not only did this team shine on stage and at camp, but they also kept Focus on Youth socials bustling with daily content and weekly recaps from each Footsteps camp.
At the start of each week at camp, Central kicked off the week with opening ceremonies that included skits, performances, and icebreaker activities for the campers. Always putting in their 100%, Central truly embodied the weekly themes at Footsteps, setting an excellent example for campers to get excited about the rest of the week ahead.
Whilst Central knew how to have fun, they also knew when to sit down and lock in. Although consisting of three separate teams: Central St. Tims, Central FHC, and Central SMT, Central always came together as a big family on Tuesdays back to their home base at St. Timothy’s to plan for how they would assist on the weekly camp trips, their upcoming Central Takeovers on Friday, and how they would tackle opening ceremonies the following week. Though separated by site, Central was always connected as one through their coordinated efforts to bring joy to all campers!
There was truly never a dull moment on Team Central. Whether it was preparing for opening or closing ceremonies, helping out around camps and on trips, shining on stage or on social media, Team Central truly embodied Leadership, stepping up where necessary and overall setting a great example for our campers at all Footsteps locations. Through these experiences, FOY’s Central Leadership team built tight-knit friendships and lifelong leadership skills.
