PROFILE: BGC – Secord Elementary School

BGC provides a fun and engaging summer camp experience for children who are 6 to 12 years old. Throughout the summer, campers take part in a variety of activities like sports and arts and crafts. BGC creates a warm environment where children can make new friends and have a fun summer.

Campers spend time practicing their talent show performances outside, and join group activities with their friends during lunch. They play games on the playground and enjoy outdoor activities like soccer and tag. The Focus on Youth staff help lead a variety of games to keep campers engaged everyday. They explain the rules and encourage teamwork while playing games like Octopus and The Dice Game. The FOY staff make sure all campers participate and have fun in every activity.

During our visit, the campers began the day by heading outside to play at the playground. Then, they went inside to play a couple rounds of Telepathy until it was lunch. During lunch, the campers ate together and had a break before continuing with their afternoon activities. After the break, campers practiced for their talent show outside, and then ended the day inside by playing the Dice Game led by one of the BGC supervisors. Overall, the day was filled with fun activities that kept the campers engaged throughout the day.
