“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in green pastures: he leads me beside the still waters. He restores my soul: he leads me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.” (Psalm 23: 1-12)
Seeds of Hope is a summer day camp supported by the Jane and Finch Church Coalition in partnership with Youth Unlimited and Toronto Youth for Christ. The camp is going into its 10th year under the supervision of Benjamin Osei, the Camp Director. The goal of the camp is to provide a safe, fun, enriching environment where children and youth can spend the summer learning, growing, and gaining new experiences.
A day of camp will typically start off with praise and worship and is followed by various guest speakers. The campers are also taught a Bible verse which the later reflect on during the day. After prayers, campers proceed to go age separated classrooms where they reflect on their Bible verses and learn essential subjects like Math and English. Following the different classes, campers then participate in various games and team-building activities.
Seeds of Hope camp serves boys and girls ages 6 – 13 years old and encourages children to be Christian leaders within their own communities. Every week, students get the chance to go on various field trips including Wild Water Kingdom, Ontario Science Center and Marineland.
