PROFILE: Toronto Community Housing (TCH) Mabelle

Toronto Community Housing (TCH) was first established by the City of Toronto on January 1, 2002, and is Canada’s largest social housing provider. This corporation has not only provided new and affordable housing for those in need, but has also offered a variety of opportunities for the youth to get off their electronics this summer and have fun by engaging in many physical activities at their camps. Kerrian Pryce, a Head Program Coordinator at TCH, is head of four camps including TCH Mabelle, which is located at 49 Mabelle Ave.

At TCH Mabelle, campers are able to connect with each other by partaking in fun activities in the gym or at the park.

Counsellors start off the camper’s day with multiple engaging activities in the classroom, along with some delicious snacks to fill up their tummies before heading to the gym. In the gym, they start with a few stretches and warm ups, followed by a numerous of vigorous games and sports like basketball and soccer. While energy levels are still through the roof, the kids then move to the park for even more exciting activities in the summer breeze. The campers and counsellors finally cool off during lunchtime. Afterwards, they enjoy their afternoon with arts and crafts, then by going to the gym and the park for more free time. And lastly, to end the day off, the campers enjoy watching a movie before they head home.
