The purpose of BGC is to give kids all over Canada have a fun and safe place where they can try new things, make friends, and learn important skills. BGC allows children to play different games, build teamwork, and achieve problem-solving skills through various activities while enjoying their summer.
A typical day with BGC at Terry Fox Public School begins with attendance and a few icebreaker games to help everyone feel included and get to know each other better. Campers take part in a variety of arts and sports activities that encourage creativity, teamwork, and having fun. The kids play games like dodgeball and fruit basket, and also spend time in the gym playing sports like volleyball and soccer.
The Focus on Youth staff spend time setting up games and activities for the campers throughout the day. They explain the rules and lead each activity to make sure everyone understands how to play. They also encourage campers to participate, help solve any problems that come up, and create a fun environment for everyone.
