Students through Focus on Youth are often motivated to explore work environments outside their comfort zones to help further develop strong leadership abilities and discover new parts of themselves over six weeks. An experience that directly benefits both the Focus on Youth program and each specialty placement. This year at St. John Evangelist, two custodians join together to help keep together this amazing placement for campers all summer long.

Custodian responsibilities may share a lot of similar tasks across various placements, in mopping floors, sweeping, cleaning classrooms, and taking out litter. They begin their day with consulting with the custodian supervisor at St. John Evangelist to see what the day’s responsibilities are. The custodians also often find ways to adapt around their lenient schedule, to ensure productivity can be performed as efficiently as possible.

Both Dayron and Maximus recognize their custodial responsibilities help this camp in more ways that meet the eye. They are the amazing behind the scenes facilitators that help keep amazing placements like here at St. John Evangelist running safely and productively, making sure these campers have the most fun in ways that may be overlooked.

The custodial staff here at St. John Evangelist shows a great value of motivation and pride in their work, consistently showing up to perform for the entire facility. It is for custodians across the Focus on Youth program that help keep these amazing placements a safer environment each day for staff and campers alike.
