The summer camp helps build strong communities by teaching life lessons about teamwork, leadership and fair play, on and off the field. Registered players receive a hat, water bottle, backpack, glove and t-shirt, imprinted with the name of a current Toronto Blue Jays player.

Staff and a few campers!

At St. Alban’s, they strive to maintain and strengthen their core services to children and youth while growing to meet the varied and changing needs of our communities.
St. Alban’s Boys and Girls Club offers kids a chance to bond with peers their own age through sports activities and outdoor games. This allows them to learn comradery and teamwork skills that they would not be able to attain in an at home environment. They also benefit from a healthy active lifestyle and leadership mentorship from positive young role models.

Campers enjoying their free time, playing basketball.

Campers at the St. Alban’s Boys and Girls Club are always full of enthusiasm and greatly reflect the energy of their camp counselors. It was great to see kids excited and immersed in sports such as rugby, one which not many campers had previously had the opportunity to try. The camp recognizes that kids love trying new things and take advantage of this thirst in their own backyards.

PROFILE: Seeds of Hope Youth Unlimited: St.Jane Frances

untitled

The Seeds of Hope summer day camp was established in 2005 by Benjamin Osei and has provided a fun and safe space for campers to be engaged and learn ever since. The goal of the camp is to create a supportive and enriching environment that gives campers a place to belong and feel completely welcome to be themselves. All summer, kids, and youth have the opportunity to learn from each other, their supervisors and themselves in order to blossom into their full potential.

IMG_1877

Every day there are fun activities for the kids including sports, arts as well as academic learning and bible stories. They organize exciting and educational field trips for the campers such as African Lion Safari, Wet, and Wild, picnics, and swimming! As the founder, Ben Osei says, “By the time they go back to school they’ll have lots of stories to share.”

IMG_1899

At Seeds of Hope, campers are encouraged to be leaders and responsible individuals. In fact, many campers become camp counselors and volunteers when they turn sixteen! This camp experience is the gift that does not stop giving as it opens the doors for opportunities and friendships that continue into the campers’ adolescence.

Each day is filled with fun and engaging activities such as: playing in the gym, visiting the community park and playing outside on the school playground. On most Fridays, the camp goes on a variety of field trips outside of the community, where campers have the opportunity to grow and learn something new.

At the end of the day, the most important thing at St. Jude’s Youth Now On Track Summer Camp is the well being and happiness of each camper. Campers learn that their words and actions have a power that can be used to show kindness towards one another. This lesson is demonstrated beautifully by the role models placed at the camp who love to keep campers smiling!

PROFILE: Recruit Access Youth Sports

The Recruit Access Youth Sports (R.A.Y.S) summer camp is a non-profit organization founded by Jason Weatherup on March of 2007. His goal was to open up an affordable camp for youth and children to keep them off the street. The camp focuses on sports and arts (dancing & acting) for boys and girls ages 4-13 years old.

IMG_1551

This program gives participants a chance to interact with children from other communities. It also serves as a vital resource for students and their families as a way of supporting various social, emotional and physical needs through recreational programs. In addition, R.A.Y.S welcomes newcomers to Canada so that they can interact and make new friends while in a fun and safe environment.

IMG_1608

All in all, the Recruit Access Youth Sports camp would be a great camp for any kids ages 4-13; especially if they enjoy sports and/or arts. Campers here always create new friendships and unforgettable experiences!
