PROFILE: Hoop House Basketball

Hoop House Basketball Logo“The main goal of Hoop House Basketball is to advance basketball at the grass roots level in Canada and make the sport more accessible for youth regardless of gender, race or athletic ability.” – Michael Dimitrik (Founder and Director of Hoop House Basketball)

The Hoop House Basketball (HHB) summer camp is for boys and girls between the ages of 7-16. Athletes are instructed by university/college level players and coaches. Campers are divided into groups based on skill level and age. Whether beginner or advanced, Hoop House Basketball will teach and develop their skills in a safe and fun environment. The HHB experience will also teach campers important life skills such as confidence, respect, teamwork and leadership.

A regular day at Hoop House Basketball ranges from basic exercises, to different basketball themed games, to various training drills and later ends with a full-court basketball game. Participants learn various skills such as dribbling, shooting, and self-control. Participants not only get the chance to learn physical exercises but the various drills help improve character and habits.

With the camp being founded in 2009, Hoop House Basketball hosts 20-30 campers every week running Ontario Basketball Association programs as well as working with the Amateur Athletic Union.
