PROFILE: Camp Wimodausis

Camp Wimodausis is a specialized summer camp under the Child Development Institute where children with behavioral and social problems from 6 to 11 years old can have fun at camp. Campers are given the opportunity to partake in exciting activities such as sports, arts and crafts, swimming, field trips, and theme days. Campers are also given the opportunity to learn SNAP® to problem-solve and regulate their behavior. The Child Development Institute focuses on putting families first; helping children with their individual needs and challenges and discover their unique abilities to succeed.

Campers on their way to the park

A regular day of camp begins with a morning routine which consists of snack time, a sing-song, and group time. Campers are divided into their respective groups and participate in activities such as arts and crafts, science experiments, and sensory play. Fun and educational, these activities keep campers engaged while learning important lessons. As the day goes by, campers go to the nearby swimming pool to enjoy water-related activities. The day ends off with a secret circle where campers have the opportunity to talk about how their days went.

Our Focus on Youth camp counsellor at Camp Wimodausis works tirelessly to make the campers’ day amazing. Facilitating between the different groups, she gives extra support where needed and makes strong connections with the children.
