PROFILE: Footsteps to Success (St. Mother Teresa)

Footsteps to Success is being hosted at three locations this year, with St. Mother Teresa being one of them. It is one of two camps founded by Andre Fullerton and community partners, created to become involved with youth, and to help urban communities to move forward.

The goal of Footsteps is to build up the community by investing in youth, to give them a different outlook, stronger self-identification, and expose them to different opportunities. The Focus on Youth students bring a youthful perspective, positive energy, enthusiasm and serve as great role models for the younger campers.

The Footsteps to Success camp is for youth ages 5-13. This program runs for six weeks from July 4th – August 11th and boasts many exciting activities. These activities include Leadership, Arts, STEAM, and Sports. Campers also enjoy weekly field trips with our amazing FOY staff.

Central Leadership takes over SMT every Monday with something fresh for campers!

A typical day in a Footsteps camp starts the day off with breakfast and morning introductions with counsellors, allowing for campers to get energized and ready for their day. Then campers go on to participate in their several rotations in Arts, Leadership, Sports, and STEAM. With these incredible activities planned by our very own counsellors, there is always something fun and new to learn for everyone involved with Footsteps to Success at SMT!

During week 3 of camp, campers were able to visit the Toronto Zoo under the supervision of their camp counsellors and coordinators. Campers were very excited to see the incredible exotic animals and were sure to have a blast. With every week comes a new field trip, leading to countless fun-filled memories.

Week 4 of camp brought campers to Kidstown Water Park. They spent the afternoon with their counsellors and coordinators having a blast! They had a great time getting soaked with the tipping bucket, splash pad, water slide, and much more! What a fun afternoon!
