At the West Scarborough Neighbourhood Community Centre, Boys and Girls Club West Scarborough (BGC WS) provides various multi-service programs and opportunities to the local community.
Every Friday, BGC WS hosts their Stars of the Week ceremony. The Stars in question are campers, one from each age group, whose exemplary work over the week earned them a vote from the majority of staff. On Friday, July 26th, the happy campers at BGC WS were more than enthusiastic to celebrate their new Stars! Applause was found from everyone, with all excited to clap for their peers.
After the celebration, the youngest campers played a variety of parachute tag games, including Cat & Mouse and Colours. The obvious favourite among the kids was the former, as students enjoyed running around the parachute as “mice” while the “cats” chase them from above. A few older campers chose to play soccer in the meantime, while the rest opted to stay in the cool shade under the trees in the park.
The fun-filled week came to a close as students slowly filed out of camp at 4PM; many goodbyes audible in the air. While promises of next week were uttered, the wonderful FOY counsellors bid their own greetings to the media team. Without a doubt, the rest of the summer will be just as fun!
