The Child Experience (TCE) is a non-profit organization providing enriching summer programs for youth, led by youth. Campers are placed with peers their age and mentored by counsellors and directors in high school and post-secondary. TCE camps are offered across the city with east and west locations for all communities.
On Thursday, July 25th, along with the FOY Media Team, TCE Don Mills was visited by professional boxing instructors to receive beginner technique lessons. In the sunshine, campers were throwing punches (but not caution) to the wind with bright smiles!

The enthusiasm shined through despite the campers’ fatigue, having ran a lap around the full track located behind the school. When the hour was up, the Don Mills counsellors hosted basketball, soccer, and various running games to let the students bask in the beautiful weather.

When lunch began, the campers settled in one room to talk amongst themselves, and the staff took their own breaks. The Media Team, on the other hand, took a tour of the camp space. The walls of St. TImothy are adorned with art in all forms, shapes, and sizes, mainly created by the talented campers.

In closing, a warm thanks is in demand for the TCE Don Mills staff, including FOY’s very own Benai and Hanna. A special thank-you as well to Director Stephanie and Assistant Directors Kylie and Dylan, who kindly welcomed Focus on Youth into the St. Timothy camp. No doubt, Don Mills will have a great rest of its summer!
